SHINGLES
BY
IVAN HINCE
If
you're unlucky enough to catch shingles you find that is
one of the most painful things you can have.
Shingles comes from the chickenpox virus that lies
dormant in your system and can break out at any time.
I
should point out that being dormant means that at some
time you have had chickenpox or the chickenpox vaccine.
The
virus attacks the nerve endings in the skin and will
form blisters like that of chicken pox and can be very
contagious and cleanliness is a must to stop it from
spreading to other areas.
Someone
once told me that Shingles is like chickenpox only one
hundred times more painful and a word of warning from
them is that if you have blisters near your face you
should contact your Doctor as the virus can affect your
eyesight in a bad way.
Another
tip is to use a cold water compress which helps to stop
the irritation, and will also help from having the skin
becoming flaky which will then start to itch and being
painful.
The use
of antihistamine tablets will also help but again it is
always advisable to get creams and tablets like that
from your Doctor, as the strength would be far stronger
from him than any basic products you could buy from a
chemist.
Summing
up you find that Shingles is not very nice, and that
medical advice is strongly recommended.
ps.
Sorry but I don't know of any alternative cures for this
virus at the moment and when I do it will be posted
straight away.
