PROSTRATE
BY
IVAN HINCE
As men
get older the prostrate gland can cause quite a few
problems and these problems tend to start when the man
reaches fifty.
Prostrate
problems tend to occur very gradually as the prostrate
begins to swell which in turn puts pressure on the
urethra which will make the flow of urine so much
weaker.
Then
you may have a period of what's called hesitancy where
you have to wait a few seconds for the urine to pass.
Also
you may have the urge to pass urine more often, and
quite often several times at night.
Often
the control over passing the urine seems to have a mind
of it's own as it can start and stop several times
during normal flow.
You may
even get the feeling seconds after you have urinated
that you want to go again, and in some cases you may
become incontinent.
Prostrate Cancer is a different thing and it must be
said that not all Prostrate problems are cancerous and that most cases
it's
the simple swelling of the prostrate but it is always
best to get checked out by your Doctor.
In rare
case the prostrate gland can get so large that it can
stop the flow of urine altogether which then can get
very dangerous, and by getting yourself checked out you
can rule out that side of things.
In most
men the age to start worrying is when you reach the
fifty mark although I have read figures saying that one
in two men over the age of sixty will have some of
prostrate problem.
There
are many more urinary problems like that of kidney
stones which can cause a blockage or a part blockage
which can be very painful indeed.
Last
but not least is the urinary infection which also can be
painful and in some cases you may even pass blood which
can be very off putting and frightening.
Once
again I must stress that it is important to get yourself
checked out by your Doctor and as it only takes a few
seconds and it could save your life.
A great
deal of information is now available on the Internet and
some offer alternative cure. Some of these are
based on diet and if you are over weight it will have a
baring on your problem.
Other
will tell you that its the lack of use and how that any
organ or gland needs to be used to keep it healthy.
Almost a use it or loose it situation.
One
supplement I use is Sal Palmetto which I find more
beneficial than drugs supplied by my Doctor but on
saying that what suits one dose not suit everyone.
Prostrate Cancer is becoming more widespread and again
as this a specialised subject it is always advisable to
have proper medical advice.
At one
of my local Hospital's they have a new system for
treating Prostrate Cancer and you might want to ask your
own Doctor about although I'm not sure how widespread
this is yet. This is known as HIFU or High
Intensity Focused Ultrasound and I will write more about
it when I have the chance.
A
website worth looking at for all Cancer problems.
